Busking Information

One of the ways that the College Park Instrumental Music Program raises money every year is through busking at our local grocery stores. In the past we have been able to raise as much as $25,000 through busking alone, so this is a very high yield fundraiser that's easy and fun! Click the Sign-Up Genius button at the top or bottom of this page to sign-up for a shift. Be sure to read through the Busking Guidelines below. 

Available dates/locations for Fall 2026 are weekends(Fri/Sat/Sun):

• • Sept. 18, 19, 20 at Safeway Virginia Hills (Friday 9/18 is Pep Band so only orchestra busking)

  • Sept. 25, 26, 27 at Lunardi's 

  • Oct. 2, 3, 4 at Safeway Virginia Hills

Fridays are one shift from 4:30-6:30pm; Saturdays and Sundays are 4 shifts from 10am-6pm

BUSKING GUIDELINES: 

1. Sign-Up for a busking shift by clicking the Sign-Up Genius link above. Busking is much more enjoyable if you sign-up with a friend. 

2. Wear your CP Instrumental Music t-shirt. This will help identify you as a band or orchestra student from College Park. As soon as community members see you playing your istrument in your CP music t-shirt, they are immediately more likley to support us by either buying some raffle tickets or simply making a donation. 

3. Play literally ANYTHING. Just the fact that you, a high school student, is making an effort to support your own music program by playing some live music outside, shows that you are part of something very positive in the community. People that live in the area will see and hear you and it will leave an immediate and positive impression. 

4. Just bring your instrument and any sheet music you need. CPIMB parents will also be helping to supervise every busking shift and will have music stands on hand for you to use. 

5. Booster parents will handle the money. Our supervising booster parents will take care of this part of busking so that students only need to worry about playing! 

6. Make it a fun and enjoyable experience! Again, if you sign-up with a friend, the whole experience can be really fun AND you'll get some valuable practice time in.
