CP Symphony Orchestra Information

The College Park Symphony Orchestra (CPSO) is a co-curricular ensemble that is part of the Chamber Orchestra Honors and Wind Ensemble Honors classes. CPSO meets most Tuesday evenings during the fall and spring semesters from 7:00pm-8:30pm. CPSO is one of College Park's premiere ensembles and participates in high quality festival performances off-campus. The current CPSO rehearsal schedule for 2026-2027 is listed below. CPSO MEMBERSHIP: All string students enrolled in our Chamber Orchestra Honors class are the string players for CPSO. Wind & percussion players are determined by chair placement in the Wind Ensemble Honors class. CPSO spots for winds & percussion are offered to the first, second and third chair players in each section. If a wind or percussion student wishes to not participate in CPSO, they can pass the offer down the section in chair order.

HONORS CREDIT: Participating in Tuesday night CPSO rehearsals is the primary way to fulfill honors credit for the Chamber Orchestra Honors class and is one of the ways to fulfill honors credit for the Wind Ensemble Honors class. In order to fulfill honors credit through participation in Tuesday night CPSO rehearsals, students must attend at least 80% of rehearsals in each semester. For fall semester there are a total of 11 rehearsals, so students must attend at least 9 rehearsals. For spring semester there are a total of 13 rehearsals, so students must attend at least 10 rehearsals. 

Additional options to fulfill honors credit will be discussed in class.
