***AUDITIONS FOR JAZZ ENSEMBLE ARE NOW CLOSED***

Auditions for Jazz Ensemble will be held during zero period and after school, August 10-14, 2026. The first day of jazz for both Jazz Ensemble & Jazz Band will be Monday, August 17, 2026 at 7:40am. Remember that auditions are not required for entry level Jazz Band. 

If you plan to audition, be ready to play:

1. A short jazz excerpt (jazz or pop accepted).

2. Three scales of your choice (1 major, 1 minor, 1 dorian). 

3. Sight-Reading. 

**Jazz drummers should be ready to play four styles: Swing, any Latin, funk/rock, and a jazz waltz. Sight-reading will be included.
